Li Na: A World She Makes Big

Walking away from the sport, effective immediately, is the right decision for me and my family.

That statement is an example of what no avid sports fan ever wants to see. Especially when it is released by one of the sport's most celebrated athletes, who always brings joy and amusement to spectators not only with their dangerous game but also with their impressive personality. Yet that one sentence is part of a letter published on Li Na's Facebook page today, announcing her retirement from tennis just before the Wuhan Open, a WTA Premier tournament held in her hometown, kicks off.

She is What She is...a CHAMPION!

So, this is my first post in 2013. Like...first ever.

To start, I didn't go to the Hopman Cup this year like I did in 2011 and 2012. This year I'm graduating from high school, and then of course *coughs* university follows. So I decided to save the money I usually spent on tickets and so forth and so forth and so forth...and the money will be used for good cause to pay for all I need as a uni student. Quick information: I hope to take the Bachelor of Communications in Journalism major at Edith Cowan University, Perth, WA, Australia (their communication studies program is among the best Down Under--I am SO going there!). Anyway, that's pretty much why I didn't write until now. But enough about it. Now to something we all know I love very much...TENNIS!

And the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen Goes to...

LI NA!

She beat defending champion Francesca Schiavone 6 - 4, 7 - 6(0). She played almost flawless for the first set and a half. In the middle of the first set Fran showed her usual spirit--which she didn't show during the first set, it was all too late. During the tiebreaker once again Li played flawlessly, she didn't give Fran a chance to win a single point!
